Action / Sports Pre Assignment

1. Name of photographer - Alyssa Shukar

General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- Dark, pessimistic type stories.

List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio-
a. Topics that have been done over millions of times.
b. Not getting up close and personal.
c. All frames were shot around the same distance.

List two things the judges like-
a. The man sweeping with a shovel
b. The Baseball celebration picture

What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?
I liked the pictures that had several angles balancing the light coming into the shot of the picture.

2. Watch the winning portfolio critique (Dustin Snipes), and post the following:
What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it?
How he gets creative with his frames and gets close to his shots on subject in them.

What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses?
All the creative ideas he had in the pictures and didn't have half of a person in a frame. had the subject in the dead center and some had very great lighting. Some were a bit dull when the pictures had the overview of the pictures.

3.
Watch the contest recap video
Briefly describe the process the judges went through in deciding the winner.

They liked the fact that the winner had diverse pictures over a certain topic. Had different types of effects he created in the pictures.

Part 2.

1. Describe one photo that you agree with the judges on. Explain why you and the judges do or do not like it.

Part 5 Where the player with the helmet on looks as if hes been playing in the mud showing half of his face in the frame. Black and white frames are interesting to me and having a lot of detail in the picture is always a picture to look into.

2. Describe one photo that you do NOT agree with the judges on. Explain why you think the judges are wrong.

In part 4 there was a picture where there was several people sitting in some desk in a room and there was a huge screen/frame of some sort with a mans face looking down as if hes watching them. They didn't like it but i thought it was creative with the angle it had going up leading the topic of the shot.
